The Nuance of Childbirth Education

As doulas, we work with women and families during unbelievably exciting, yet stressful times in their lives. I can tell you, with confidence, that no two families are the same. They all come with unique stories. These families might all be at similar junctures in life, but their needs are hugely different from one another.

One size fits all childbirth education, birth preparation, and labor support is so far from the needs of the people. Add to this their unique learning styles, obscure schedules, and specific informational needs, and sometimes it is easier just to opt out.

We don’t want you to opt out. We want you to feel confident in the information that you need. We want you to feel comfortable where you are AND to receive the support that you need for your family. And we recognize that this means something different for everyone.

Whatever your story is, we want to hear it. We want to know about your struggles and your joy – they make YOU. If being around other pregnant couples is too hard but you want to take a childbirth education class, let us come to you. If your needs are unique because of adoption, surrogacy, previous loss, or anything else, let us meet you there and walk with you on your path.

Your childbirth education experience will help you not only learn about the processes of pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period, but also give you confidence to pursue it with joy.
